The Red Eagles first reached Serie A for the inaugural SuperLeague after winning promotion from Seria B. The club spent five mediocre seasons in Serie A before relegation in June 2000. Before the disastrous 1999/0 season the club had managed to qualify for the UEFA Cup in three seasons out of four.

Bank-rolled by the Export Company who purchased the club in May 1996 the Red Eagles were considered too good to go down. The shock of relegation to the second division threatened to ruin the club but it bounced back. Christophe Horlaville's 26 goals helped the Eagles pip Legoland Celtic to take fourth place in the 2000/1 Serie B and the club rejoiced having returned to the big-time in such a short absence.

The Emperor Eagles fans were not cheering for long however as the club struggled upon their return to the top flight and finished the season in third from bottom in the 2002/3 campaign and were once again relegated to Serie B. Again the club managed to get promoted at the first attempt and have managed to stay in Serie A for the last 3 seasons.

On the 3rd March 2008 the Export Company president Organius Crimus took over direct running of the club in a bid to assist the side in its battle against the drop after a poor season.
