Lion Lakers AS are the largest club in the Castleland region of Legoland and get their support from the large base of Castle Lion soldiers. The club has however never amassed many trophies, the 1994-95 Serie A win the only silverware of note. The club did reach the final of the now defunct Coppa Latin in 1996, only to lose to Slavia.
On July 1st 2007 the club were sold to the Legoda car manufacturer group for a fee reported to be in the region of £90m. The deal forced Mr
Legoda to give-up his honoury board membership at the Footballing Celebs as under LFA league rules a club owner cannot have interests in more
than one top division football clubs.
The new owner quickly pumped money into the club and signed a number of high profile players including Ronaldinho and Wayne Rooney.
In December 2007 the club, struggling in the Serie A, fired long serving coach Arrigo Sacchi following a 3-0 home defeat to Port Villa.
The loss to the Pirates, Lakers' fourth defeat in their last 6 games, saw the club fall into the relegation zone and caused anger
among the club's supporters resulting in protests in the Castleland capital Rome.
