Established in 1994 as Inter Marino, Marino were purchased in 1995 by the King of Eland, King Edward. Supporters of the Seasiders were hopeful that the King could bring some glory to the club by investing heavily into the side. These seemingly promised investments however did not materialise and the club languished in Serie B on a shoe-string budget for a number of seasons.
It was not until the 1998/1999 Serie B season that Marino earned promotion for the first ever time to Serie A. Serie A football did not last very long however with the side relegated back down to the second division after finishing the 2000/01 season in 3rd last place.
