On the 19th June 2008 Parma became the first Serie A club in 2008 to be bought out by a foreign businessfig. The new owner, Mr Jon Voi, a successful entrepreneur in Kilimanlego forked out £55m to land the club. As part of the purchase fee the club's new owner agreed to sell of the club's youth academy. The departing president and owner, Mr Tommaso Ghirardi, called the arrival of Voi "the potential catalyst for success".
